Spanish Sunday
What are Spanish Sundays?
Spanish Sundays are a 3 hour multi-age play date for children ages 3 to 10 years old. Children do not have to have any previous Spanish knowledge to participate. During the play date, we will do ZumbAtomic (Zumba for boys and girls), play with bouncing balls, big and small parachutes, hula hoops, jump ropes, bean bag toss and lots of other games, as well as free play all in Spanish!. We will also learn about Latin American culture. We will also have a snack break where the children learn the names of the foods, utensils, and table manners in Spanish.
During Spanish Sunday your child/children will be given a pretend passport and every month we will be learning about a different country during our culture time and while we play. Your child will have his/her passport stamped at the beginning of Spanish Sunday (after we take our imaginary plane ride to our featured country) and at the end of Spanish Sunday when we arrive back in the United States.
For the Spanish Sunday Play Date, we use the Total Physical Response approach, which allows every child (no matter how much Spanish he/she knows) to have fun and learn at the same time. It is a Spanish immersion experience that is fun and not intimidating for children. If your child knows Spanish, he/she will enjoy the activities and will be able to practice and broaden their vocabulary.
