Carina Giusti, MS
Was born in Argentina and has been a teacher for 16 years. She holds a Masters Degree from Penn State University. In the last seven years, she has been teaching (public & private schools; Leisure Classes at LSU, private -one to one- Spanish class as well as group classes),Spanish in Baton Rouge. She is also the founder and director of Spanish Language Services L.L.C. which provides language training, translations and Interpreting. In 2008, she started a Spanish Immersion Summer Camp for kids from 2 to 8 years old. She is the mother of 2 girls, ages 5 and 7. She has enjoyed planning her daughters' birthday parties every year as well as her husband's and her own birthday parties. She also has helped numerous friends to plan their children's and other birthday parties.
Maydel M. Schexnayder, M.S., CRC,
Was born in Cuba and is a Vocational Rehabilitation District Supervisor for Louisiana Rehabilitation Services under Louisiana Workforce Commission. Ms. Schexnayder has a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She has been working for the state's vocational rehabilitation program for the past ten years and has been a District Supervisor for the past five years. Prior to working with the state, Ms. Schexnayder worked as a Clinical Assistant for Darlyne G. Nemeth, Ph.D of The Neuropsychology Center of Louisiana, LLC. With her colleagues, Darlyne G. Nemeth, Ph.D., M.P., and Kelly Paulk Ray, Ph.D., M.P., Ms. Schexnayder co-authored the book, Helping Your Angry Child, which promotes healthy family interactions. While working for Dr. Nemeth, Ms. Schexnayder assisted in behavioral modification programs for children. She presented at various schools and conferences regarding interventions to assist children with anger issues and/or helping to prevent the development of anger problems. She is also the mother of nine year old twins and has enjoyed planning their birthday parties. She has also assisted friends and family members plan birthday parties and other special events (i.e., bridal showers, weddings, baby showers, etc).
Hola Fiesta,LLC
Began in September 2011 as a result of Carina Guisti and Maydel Schexnayder identifying the need of the Baton Rouge community to be more exposed to and learn about the Latin culture. Specifically, children of Spanish speaking parents that refuse or struggle with speaking Spanish. As Hispanic mothers, we were inspired to begin a business that would teach children about the Hispanic culture and the Spanish language while having fun. The success of the Zumba industry served as an inspiration, as this business is successful internationally. Especially, ZumbAtomic which is Zumba for Children. ZumbAtomic can be used as a fun option for birthday parties. Therefore, we both became certified as Zumba Basic and ZumbAtomic instructors.
